Upper Deck inks exclusive deal with Rory McIlroy

Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Lebron James and now Rory McIlroy can be added to the list of exclusive athletes signed by Upper Deck.

At 23, the rising PGA star already has two major victories, and now collectors can rely on Upper Deck as his exclusive home to memorabilia, including signed trading cards and other signed collectibles.

“At Upper Deck we have always prided ourselves on bringing our worldwide customers closer to the world’s most iconic athletes,” said Richard McWilliam, Upper Deck’s founder and CEO. “We have been targeting Rory for some time now and are thrilled to have him be a part of the Upper Deck team. Our golf collectibles provide fans with not only a premium talking piece for their home or office, but more importantly an authenticcollectible to cherish forever.”

His trading cards will be appearing in upcoming Upper Deck products, but Upper Deck Authenticated will have signed collectibles available after his first signing session which should occur in September. It’s a great opportunity for fans of McIlroy to purchase memorabilia items of his while he’s a talent on the rise. He will have signed photos, like shown, but will also have hats, polos, shoes, and pin flags available, according to Upper Deck.

There will also be a selection of tournament-worn memorabilia merchandise though pricing information is still being worked on.

Upper Deck states that his first UD Authenticated items will be available in October, 2012.

McIlroy says his decision to partner with Upper Deck was partly based on  ensuring his fans, “getting the real thing.”

“Upper Deck’s five-step authentication program will help insure they get just that. And based on some of the designs and concepts I have seen thus far, my fans are going to be blown away by what Upper Deck has to offer.”

Definitely an exciting time for fans of the PGA tour and fans of Rory McIlroy.
