Being able to say you’ve followed your favorite player since their early days has special meaning. With Topps Pro Debut collectors have the opportunity to collect some of the first cards of these Minor League stars and follow them on their path to ‘The Show’.
2013 Pro Debut boasts four hits per box; two autograph cards, one patch card and one patch or relic card. Keeping with the same base design as its flagship counterpart, Pro Debut will feature 220 base cards with gold bordered parallels numbered to 50. Also included will be 15 variation cards.
From Topps’ solicitations, it looks like most of the autographs will be stickers, but there will be parallel versions in gold numbered to 50 and 1 of 1’s in a red border and printing plates. This should still help to create value on the secondary market.
Collectors ripping into 2013 Series One were delighted when the manufactured patch cards in the blaster boxes were coming out looking pretty fantastic. Let’s hope that stays on course when we discover them featuring manufactured hat logo’s. There will be gold-bordered versions numbered to five, red-border versions #/1, and printing plate versions as well, also 1/1.
For fans wanting ‘real’ relics, game-used jersey pieces are included with gold versions numbered to 50 and jumbo-patches numbered to five.
2013 sees the, ahem, debut of Minor League mascot patch cards. All I can tell from looking at the preview is it will be closer to that of the manufactured rookie reprints from 2013 Topps. These will have the the same gold and red bordering as all of the other inserts.
There will be redemptions, but these will be for full-sized items from Minor League games. Also, 1/1 cut signatures from the actors in Bull Durham and buyback packs from the same movie will be included. We should hear more about the partnership with Topps and Bull Durham in the upcoming weeks.
Stay tuned for full checklist details as they arrive.
Set to release the week of June 5th, 2013.
24-packs per box, 12 boxes per case.
