As the long headache from the NHL lockout subsides, collectors can get back to sorting their favorite NHL stars and looking for anything they can salvage from the shortened season. It doesn’t appear that the rookie limitations will put too much of a damper on the products that are still on the way. Which brings us to the next installment of Upper Deck Hockey’s NHL SP Authentic.
Slated to release in June, SP Authentic boasts three autograph cards per box and at least one rookie card. They are pushing that the autograph lineup will be strong which is good to compensate the weaker than normal rookie class. Mind you, this isn’t Upper Deck’s fault; just the rules of the game.
Other notable inserts include signed Future Watch patches, autograph patch variations, SPx bonus packs and a handful of other inserts. New to this year’s set are Upper Deck Update cards and ’94-95 retro hits to keep up with the ongoing throwback theme in today’s cards.
